Podcasts
The podcasts below have been instrumental in shaping my thinking on a variety of issues. While I may not agree with every point or every argument, I’m grateful for how they have encouraged me to love and defend the truth. The Briefing
Albert Mohler’s daily podcast where he addresses news and events from a Christian worldview. For several noteworthy episodes, see the Important Thinkers section on Al Mohler.
Thinking in Public
Albert Mohler’s semi-regular podcast where he interviews authors and thinkers about a variety of topics. Mohler’s own description of the podcast is helpful: “A program dedicated to intelligent conversation about frontline theological and cultural issues with the people who are shaping them.” For several noteworthy episodes, see the Important Thinkers section on Al Mohler.
Ask Pastor John
John Piper’s daily podcast where he addresses difficult biblical and theological questions. Very helpful and often deeply encouraging. For more on John Piper, see his section in Important Thinkers.
Renewing Your Mind
Even though R. C. Sproul passed away in 2017, his podcast continues with clips and talks he gave throughout his life. From the podcast’s description: “Since 1994, this daily broadcast has provided accessible, in-depth Bible teaching to millions around the world. As the principal outreach of Ligonier Ministries, it has instructed listeners in the life-changing truths of historic Christianity and has kept the church community informed about pertinent issues facing believers today.”
You can learn more about Ligonier Ministries on this site’s Resources Page.
Mortification of Spin
From the podcast’s description: “Mortification of Spin is a casual conversation about things that count. Todd Pruitt and Carl Trueman deliver a humorous, informal podcast with bite. Listen each week for an engaging and thought-provoking conversation on the challenges facing the Church and the Christian, and decide for yourself if words spoken in a British accent truly carry more weight…” For more about Carl Trueman, see his section in Important Thinkers.
The Plodcast
Douglas Wilson’s weekly podcast devoted to theological and cultural issues. For those who don’t know Wilson, he can be a polarizing figure because of his directness and sarcasm (along with some of his views). Even so, I’ve found Wilson’s podcast to be beneficial for his different perspectives on a variety of issues and his willingness to address topics that many others will not.
The Antithesis
Owen Strachan’s weekly podcast that seeks to help listeners “understand sound biblical doctrine and to distinguish it from ideologies that seek to take us captive (Colossians 2:8).” Strachan discusses a variety of theological and cultural issues from a biblical worldview, seeking to apply the text of Scripture to these real-world situations.
