Of all the books listed in this section, The Case for Christ is the most consistent with the theme of this site: Follow the Evidence, Find the Truth. Lee Strobel’s investigation into the truth of Christianity is as compelling as it is thorough. Strobel did not begin as a Christian; rather, he began his investigation in an attempt to disprove Christianity. But as he examined the historical evidence and interviewed numerous scholars from esteemed institutions (Cambridge, Princeton, etc.), Strobel concluded that a man named Jesus did in fact rise from the dead, ultimately leading Strobel to a belief in the God of the Bible. 

I am a skeptic by nature, and in recent years I’ve become even less trusting of much of what I’ve been told. But despite my skepticism and tentativeness when it comes to embracing grand narratives that explain our world and our existence, I cannot get away from the reality that Christianity makes the most sense of our world. In this short and compelling book, Tim Keller explains how a belief in God is not irrational but is consistent with logic, reason, and evidence. If you are skeptical by nature like I am, I would urge you to read this book and seriously consider Keller’s arguments.

Mere Christianity is perhaps the best known summary and defense of the Christian faith. But while many have heard of it, far fewer have actually read this classic work, and fewer still have seriously grappled with the book’s claims. Written by C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity began as a series of radio broadcasts during World War II, originally under the title of “Right and Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe.” Whether you are a believer in Christ or do not believe in God, C.S. Lewis’s arguments are worth considering.
